I love to hike! I've only been day hiking as hubby doesn't like to camp, but someday I would like to hike down the Grand Canyon and camp, then hike back up. Of course, I have to get in better shape than I am in now! I do love to work out. I just go in spurts. Earlier this year, I lost 30 pounds by just doing cardio for our Biggest Loser Contest at work. I gained it all back. I'm totally blaming it on myself, but I do know that I need to do things differently such as build more muscle to burn off fat efficiently. That's why this contest has got me so psyched! Toni Warrick is an inspiration! And the 2007 champion, Dawn Thomas, is as well! I don't know how I missed the contest last year, but I was looking for it this year. I'm ready to get fit, and stay fit!

Glad you liked the workout...kicks butt! I only use that equipment if the benches are being used! I usually stick to dumbbell presses or the bar. My trainer just wanted me to be able to move quickly between machines!

We just got back from GI. It is a strange city, not hard to get around in but not somewhere that I want to live. We found a nice house in Central City and I really liked Aurora. My thing is I do live in the "country" right now, but it is only a hop and jump from Denver where I can go to the Whole Foods, Sprouts or Sunflower farmers market and to Max Muscle and to my gym....... GI did not seem to offer much in the way of Whole food grocery stores they have Hyvee, Skagway and of course Walmart. The gyms would work but I really like the high intensity type of gyms with the loud music the boxing and wrestling and there are no gyms there like that. I could make due tho. So my husband had a job interview and we are waiting to hear back when we may need to go back as they had to have corporates permission for him to take the driving test. I have sent out bunches of resumes and nothing yet. I am not sure I want to sit at a desk any more so I have been applying for things that I have not done before like a meter reading position in Hastings. I really like NE. so it is still in the works.

Remember, I was only on 1200 cal/day so far! I think that's why I was able to lose my weight. I can't believe that right before the contest I weighed 172 (when I first visited MM). A total of 21 lbs. It still hasn't registered!

Good morning! I have my protein 40%, carbs 40%, and fat 20%. So, it's pretty much the same...just more! My day is changed to B-oatmeal (1c), 1T. pb
S-MaxPro, fruit (low sugar), L-4-6 oz lean meat, 1 sweet pot, veggies (lots), S-4 oz lean meat, veggies, 1/2 c. rice D- 4-6 oz lean meat, lots of veggies, S-caesin protein OMG so much food! Congrats on the weight loss! Remember fat helps us lose weight too...so we can't cut it out! Just not lots of it! They've really upped my intensity and amount of training so I need the extra calories. Especially to put on muscle. I couldn't understand it either but they really explained it to me. I did gain muscle to burn the fat off but I want to really define and pack it on! I did learn something about fat though....my only fat I really have is in my legs! If it's loose and pinchable it's going fast...if it's hard it still has to break away from the muscle. So that was good news! I don't have that hard glob of cellulite anymore, it's pretty loose...just need to keep it up! Have a wonderful day...you're so inspiring! Talk later!

So this is my second try...... MY BB program is going ok. Since I do not have a trainer anymore it has been a little more difficult and I do not have the confidence that I did when he was there with me. My husband is my lifting partner now and I am not so sure he should be. He says things to me like I am not trying hard enough when I am shaking on that last rep trying to get it up. Plus he always has an excuse why he can not do it...... So next time he decides to stand me up I will go on my own and just have someone in the gym spot me if I need. If you want I can send you the first 5 weeks of my program that I am doing. It is out of the Ironman workout, I have not been able to find it online so I think it must have come out of a book. My trainer who is now in Washington State gave it to me and said that he would send the next 5 weeks when he was back online. As far as the rest goes, he and 2 other body builder compitition trainers say that when it comes to building muscle or any workout program that nutrition comes first then rest a close second and the workout is actually 3rd on the most important list. He says that the burnout will totally plateu me that is what it is designed to do because at that point I will be over trained. So the 2 week rest is mandatory. It will be hard. I get CRANKY when I do not get my workouts in. I can be in a foul mood and go and lift or do my boxing or kickboxing and all that stress and moodiness just leaves my body. So it is going to be tuff. I lost 5 mo last year with the ectopic pregnancy and surgery so the thought of losing anymore time kinda pisses me off LOL. But from the sounds of it, it is necessary.

The proof is in the pudding, or lack of it.... lol...

Here is a really good track workout that will get your scale moving again:
Eight 100's
Six 200's
Four 300's
Two 400's
Sounds easy but it really not. By the time you finish you have run 3.3 miles and then you will see the scale start to move again. Here are the keys to success:
1) Rest time between semi-sprints 30 seconds
2) Make sure your giving at least a 75% effort.
3) If your not feeling it add 10 blurpees before starting a new semi-sprint

Geez...you go girl on that bench press! I haven't even paid much attention to that as I use dumbbells most of the time for my chest presses! I found the trainer I'm working with now by calling around to the local gyms. They should give you a free eval and you can tell them your goals. The one I'm working with 2x/week is really good with pushing me to my potential...atleast that's what I noticed tonite in bootcamp! Don't be so concerned about if they specialize with bodybuilding because some of the best trainers are those that just push you! You have a solid ground in what you need to do so I think you just need to take it to the next level. Yes, I wish we did live closer! None of the Spokane comrades seem to want to get together...oh well! I think that we're on the same level and just need that extra support! Looks like you have a nice set up at home...according to your pics! I just have a couple dumbbells...need to get a bench! Talk later...off to sleep I go! Should have no trouble after bootcamp tonite!

Good evening to you! Love your new pics. I read your blog about your bf%. Don't worry...you're looking great! I think we all get caught up in the numbers. For instance, I was last tested at 19%. When I went to bootcamp, the trainer there told me that I'm leaner than that! So, she's going to 7 pt me tomorrow. Everyone does it different that's why I'm getting a bodpod test sometime this month at the University. I heard they're really accurate! Did you post the pancake recipe? I've been pushing my cals around 1250-1300/day according to my MM nutrition plan. Lost all the weight I need to but need to really start putting on mass. Just increased my cals up to 2000 with all my cardio and strength training...gotta figure out how to get all that food in (shouldn't have a problem:) Met with my new trainer for strength and cardio classes tonite! We had a bootcamp...kicked my butt! I was dripping sweat...there was no stopping between sprints, pylos, jacks, lunges, pushups, planks, etc....OMG!!! I can't wait to see what she brings my way in strength training tomorrow...she's brutal! Gotta love it! How's things going with your trainer search?

sorry if you get this twice......but I went to Mizzou and am a huge KU basketball fan. My friends hate me this time of year. Doc Sadler is a really good coach, just hasn't recruited very good players. Hopefully he turns it around or he might not be around much longer. There are like 10 different sites that you can get pinched for body fat. The bod pod is supposed to be very accurate, so as I get closer to the end of june, I'm going to get in one of those to compare pinch test to that. I think Michele is going to use one too.

Yeah, but you have to remember I'm a guy and we have less body fat naturally. Anything under 15% for females is amazing. Diana Chaloux(trainer at hitch fit) walks around probably 12% I'm guestimating. But for shows she gets to 7%. I do love those pancakes. I've tried using different proteins in them and that really changes the quantity and how dry they are for some reason.

Thanks Diana. I did do the training sessions and going to be meeting with her once a week. I went last Thursday and couldn't walk for 2 days. She kicked my butt and it felt great afterwards. I went to my 2nd session this morning bright and early at 5:30 am (which thanks to day light savings my body was thinking it was 4:30 am). It was great! She really pushes me which is exactly what I need. I keep plugging away. I refuse to give up and give in. Hope you have a great week.

I'm sure you burn enough on the elliptical as on the arc. The arc is more like stepping instead of running...that's all! I just pump up the incline/resistance. I pumped up the cardio also! Before the weekend, my scale was up almost 4 lbs...must have been fluid. Because after all my cardio...jogging in am & arc in afternoon I'm down 2 lbs from where I started. I made sure I took protein before cardio so I wouldn't break down muscle. I'm excited to get back to weight training today...I'll be using a trainer so much more along with more cardio! I can't believe how lean my legs got with my increase in cardio this week...my thighs just fell off! Talk later!

Diana, I am switching over to ThermXX and EXT. I have taken ThermXX before, but at that time, I wasn't able to keep up with a consistent workout/diet. Now that I am able to, I am going to try it out. I also heard that EXT for recovery is awesome so I am going to also try it out. The duathlon is this coming Sunday. I will only have time to run once this week, but I will do some plyometrics and other endurance/strength training or my legs to get me through the running segments. I found an awesome specialty bike/multi sport shop and the guys there are all 'ironmen' (btw, my ultimate goal is to do the half ironman in Hawaii...maybe next year...) They have free training workouts for triathlon preparation and this summer I do plan on fitting these into my schedule..I am not in the military, but I love doing the Hard Corps Race series races at Camp Pendleton. Its a Marine Base about 45 minuts away from where I live. I have done every one of the races there except the half/full marathon and triathlon. I plan on doing all of them next year. I think I should have been a Marine..lol...The races there are just more challenging than other races I have done in the past and they are also very scenic because the base is located right next to the ocean; its awesome! With regards to getting injured on your bike, have you been professionally fitted? It really makes a huge difference. I used to hate cycling, but after getting fitted, I love it. My next bike will either be a mountain bike or cyclecross bike. I had never been mountain biking before, but a few months ago I did the Muddy Buddy race. Its a mountain bike/running/obstacle race..and there's lots of hills. Uphil on a mountain bike was tough but I was determined not to push my bike up..I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest..lol but it was fun. ..well except for the fact that the brakes went out about halfway through the race. I had problems with one of the obstacles where I had to jumpt up and climb up a rope net to the top of a huge slide. Other people were climbing up like Spiderman, but I just keep jumping and couldn't get my foot to latch on to the rope. There was a line forming behind me and I just used my arms and pulled myself up..I probably looked hilarious..some people just went around it, but I was not giving up. My teammate and I made it through though and at the and we swam through a mud pit. Let me know how your ride goes; you're in great shape so you have nothing to worry about.:)

Glad to hear you had such a great time! We had sunshine yesterday, but today is back to the gloom...so depressing! Workouts have actually been going really well. I started taking D4 fat burner and holy cow! The scale is moving too which feels good (I know we're not supposed to worry about what it says!) Was going to update my measurements and pics but hubby had to leave town until the middle of this coming week so will have to wait until he gets back. You're looking amazing Diana! Talk to you soon.

I would definitely say go for the trainer. I know for me, I get pushed way passed what I thought were my limits every session. Make sure you pick a trainer who cares about your tansformation and not making some sort of lifetime deal. I know there are some out there who just want the money for as long as they can get it.

Well, I guess we both had a downfall this week. I endulged in some multi-grain chips and salsa...talk about fluid gain! I packed on about 2-3 lbs. My trainer mentioned that fluid will take about 3-4 days to get off. May I mention that it wasn't just a little bit of chips and salsa either. It was a big bowl of salsa. I was craving the salt...think it's that female PMS craving! Well, I'm back to the grind and strict to my eating and twice daily cardio. Starting Monday, I'm back to the intense strength training...I'll be working with my trainer daily and will be working with another trainer that works with figure competitors in the area 2 x/week. She also has incorporated bootcamp 2x/week, turbo-kickboxing 2x/week, Zumba 1xweek, and abs/core class 1x/week. It's really a bang for my buck! I'm ready to kick things into high gear...how bout you? I've been totally lost not lifting weights for 4 days! I've really hit the pylos & cardio though. I even got up early this am and took a morning 2 mile jog! So, I'm going to dedicate myself to the cardio splits daily!

Diana, I am recovered and getting ready for my next race at the Marine Base Camp Pendleton. Its the Devil Dog Duathlon (run/bike/run). I did this for the first time last year and really enjoyed it..except, this was the first multi sport race and I had some issues in transition. I guess I must have not listened very well to the instructions and ended up in the wrong chute at each transition area. There were other races going on at the same time and I ended up having to run out and back to get to the right area which wasted a lot of time, but I had a blast..except during the last part of the race. It was a 5k trail run and my right knee was in excruciating pain. I have never quit a race before but I was seriously thinking about it. I have done races in the past where I just had to reach deep inside and just give it all I got. I finished but went straight to medical to ice my knee. This was the second time I had knee problems during a race. Earlier in the year, I did the AFC Half Marathon and at about mile 10, I was at the point where I could barely walk! I stopped at medical and iced my knee, but again this was 'wasting time', so I asked them to tape the ice to my knee which they did and I continued for another half mile. Well they taped it up too tight and I lost feeling in my leg. so I ripped off the tape and ice and kept on going. Since then, I had been to physical therapy, learned some stretches and got some really good insoles. I have been reading Chi Running and got professionally fitted for running shoes. I haven't had problems since. What races do you do in Bellevue? Have you done any mutli sport activities?

Oh thank you so much Diana because I really was not feeling it until I took my progress pictures. With me not feeling well & then I had no energy what so ever all I wanted to do was sleep. So then the mind games started which I hate so I fight it will all my might. That is why I made sure I didn't miss any of my workouts. I keep telling myself I have come to far to give up now. However, from what I have read I am not the only one who suffers with that at time and I was warned before I started that might happen. I am actually eating around 2100 calories a day now & I follow my meal plan to the T. Did you say you are also doing the Max Nutrition Plan? My workout times have changed to earlier in the day now so what I have been doing is switching my Meal 4 & Meal 3 around. I was hoping that will trick the body a little bit. But, what I will do is print out my meal plan & type up what I eat in a typical day. You are doing such a fantastic job as well so keep up the good work! Take care & I will be in touch!
