So you live in Layton? My brother lives in West Point. I'll probably be up there for the 4th of July and they do a little 5K there. My brother and his wife usually do it. I'll probably do it with them this year, instead of the one in Provo again. You wanna join me? I'll pace you for a 27 minute 5K, then you'll have nothing to be jealous of. Wadda ya think? What did you say your 5K PR was again?

Thanks! Yeah that is what I was thinking as well. But, I copied & pasted it right from the website. I thought it was really good & the kids even liked it so that is a bonus. If you try it let me know what you think.

James, I had the same problem with my right knee last year. My doctor told me to stay off of it and I went to physical therapy for several weeks. The therapist showed me some stretches to do and recommended that I get insoles for my running shoes. I did and also got professionally fitted for running shoes and I haven't had any problems since. Swimming and cycling are good alternatives. Oh yeah, and I have also learned proper running form from the Chi Running book. Hope you start feeling better:)

Hey James, how are you? I started working out with my trainer 2X a week. I ordered the P90X but haven't started it yet. I have used some of your routines on days that I work out on my own..and you were right, after leg day, the track workouts are tough. I went to the local college track and got a little winded plus my legs were sore. I am a slow steady distance runner and doing intervals is definitely a change..a good change, but I think I need to do these on the weekends and not after leg day. Have a great week!

Hope you're having a great business trip! Thanks for the tips on developing the hammies. Since our weather sucks and we still have a ton of snow on the ground (though it's finally melting) will the uphill sprints work just as well on the treadmill? Or how about climbing stairs? I've often thought about going to work on the weekends and just doing our stairs. Now I'm sick so I haven't been doing much of anything :-(

They ended up in 3rd place after a very intense game. He is only in 5 grade but I was sitting on the edge of my set the entire game. They were behind in the 1st quarter but managed to tie up in the 2nd. The last 2 they stayed neck & neck & then ended up going into overtime & won it by one point. Now we move onto soccer. Well I hope you get to go some where nice for buisness trip. Have a good week.

Hi James, I saw that you commented on my photo. Yes I am working out twice if possible at least 4-5 times a week. AM. - Cardio & Pm - Weights. I've already lost 20lbs & my body doesnt want to budge from where its at....And I've been 20lbs lighter. So, I know what I'm capable of looking better! So onward towards my better body journey!! Have a Happy, Healthy, Week!!

Hi James, I just posted my "End of Month 2" progress article and pics. Month 2 certainly brought some challenges: strained shoulder (no chest for 1.5 weeks), strained neck, and foot strain. All of that was with the regular challenges any working professional goes through. Well, I am headed into month 3 which, essentially is my final month because for months 4 - 6 I will be focused on adding muscle and won't post again until right before the contest ends. I've broken down the contest into two parts: 1) get lean and 2) gain muscle and stay lean. So the first 12 weeks (3 months) are most important for me and is essentially my contest time frame. Gaining muscle is a very long and slow process, so the difference between month 3 and 6, in terms of muscle mass won't be very drastic. Let me know when you post your updated pics.

Thanks for the tips on the wipers and the deadlifts!! I will definitely add the deadlifts to my leg workout and probably replace one of my other hamstring exercises - the seated hamtractor machine. Or should I do a hamstring day and do 3 exercises? The deadlift, the hamtractor, and the kneeling leg curl. Hmmmm...

I tried to write something from home on Saturday, but was having issues and it wouldn't post. This weekend was better than most, but I still have a lot to work on when it comes to weekends. I have a friend who started working out with me and he is helping me with strength training, so I looking forward to that and he makes sure I go. We worked out yesterday and at 6:00 am this morning. It was good. I have no problems exercising the eating is whats causing me problems. We also had a bad day yesterday. Our black lab Sam died. He fell through some ice and broke his neck. My husband Rocky and 8 year old daughter Baylee saw the whole thing. Needless to say we are all very sad, but I didn't let it keep me from working out. Thanks so much for supporting me it really means a lot to know there are people who care. Hope you have a great week.

Hey there, thanks for checking on me. Just plugging along, I gained at my weigh in a week and a half ago. It was my own fault, I had been binging (not good). Been back on track since then and it seems that I have lost what I gained. We will see for sure next tuesday. Everyone is always so postive on here, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who screws up. I guess the important part is that I get back up and start again instead of giving up. I've been doing the work out in the february max magazine and then I may do some circuit work, not sure yet on that, there are so many options out there sometimes it's confusing. Hope all is going well with you :)

whats up James? Thats awesome, what you wrote about getting yourself mentally pumped up for your workout. I do the same, but its mostly internal, I don't have the stones to do it in public. As far as my strength goes, it's getting better, but not where I want it. We're going to start lifting heavy mid to late march, as long as I get my body fat (stomach area) where it needs to be by then. I'm really counting on that to help out. My triceps are still really holding back my bench, they get fatigued pretty quick still. I guess it's all part of the process though. Congrat on winning your bench contest. Maybe I can give you a little competition by June lol.

James, thank you so much for keeping up with me. I really do get more and more encouraged when people say they are watching. I am so pumped up and ready to do this, this time around. There is no stopping me this year. I am going to win this (sorry to tell you this) i will be in the winners circle even if it kills me. Well you know what i mean. I have the most supportive husband at home who is willing to take care of my 2 boys till i get home from the gym every day (havent missed a work out since 1/4 even weekends) and that in it self is a lot of work. But he tells me its worth it to hear me talk about how good i feel.
so stay posted for more awsome updates and i hope to have new pics up too. What till you see the change.

Well if you were in Vancouver the end of this month, we'd probably be stride for stride. Here's this morning: http://nikerunning.nike.com/n/r/en_US/1614526805/1819499669/?sitesrc=fbk_ab_plus Trevor and Tracy from Max Muscle Vancouver have been helping me on this distance thing, I got a heart monitor and slowed my pace to stay in Zone 2...although even at the slower speeds there are times when that thing screams at me because I'm close to cardiac arrest...at least it feels like it at times. Thanks for the posts.

Hitting the weight room today for a 300 workout. I cannot box jump so I do squats at 155 pounds for 50 reps instead. other than that I do the workout as discribed on the internet. It is a good little workout for cardio and strength. I am trying to throw this in my routine once a week.
