Interests:

Hello to anyone who comes across this page. Greetings, Salutations and all that stuff.

First of all, thank you for coming to see my page here on the Maxformation Challenge. I hope that all of your goals come to you as you work hard and Maxform your body as well. Please leave me a message letting me know you stopped by. We are all in this together and the more we comment to each other and talk to one another, the more accountability we have and the likelier we are to reach some, if not all, or our goals for this challenge.

Second, Obviously the guys on the left are not me. These guys, Ryan Reynolds and Daniel Craig embody, no pun intended, what I want to look like when I am done with my Maxformation. It helps that I was able to find at least a couple guys in pictures that have similar body types.

A little about me:
My name is Jason. I am going to turn 31 (I don't feel a day over 20!) on February 2, 2010. I can't freakin believe it! 31! I know I should be an adult by now but I sure don't feel like it.
I live in Phoenix, AZ and am an independent insurance agent. I work from home.
I have 3 dogs. An 11 1/2 year old Flat-Coated Retriever (think black golden retriever with some lab) and two 18 month old Siberian Husky puppies, Kodiak (male) and Dakota (female). The last two were from the same litter... and technically only Kodiak is mine, Dakota is my gf's dog.

I love to bicycle. If it is not cold and I can get out, that is my preferred method for cardio. I am not stuck on a treadmill or elliptical for an hour staring at a wall. Know what I mean? If anyone is around Phoenix, send me an email and we can go for a ride or work out together.

My Goals:
My goals for the Maxformation Challenge are pretty simple.
I just did my measurements. The first measurement is where I am now, the second is what my goal is.
Measurements:
Weight: 225 -- 205 (lose fat and gaining muscle)
Fat %: about 25% -- 10%
Body Composition: Lose 40# fat, gain 10# muscle
Neck: 17 1/2 -- No goal
Waist (around my belly): 43 -- Not sure... 34
Hips (where my belt goes): 43 -- 34
Bi/Tri: 13.5 -- 15
Forearm: 12.5 -- no goal
Thigh: 23.5 -- 24
Calf: 17 -- No goal

So there are my goals. I am starting this 27 January, 2010 and my end date, 12 weeks from now, is 21 April, 2010.

I look forward to seeing everyone elses Maxformation, writing and encouraging you and to receiving your encouraging emails as well. Again, if there is anyone in the Northern Phoenix, AZ area, lets get together and work out. Let's keep each other accountable and really push for what we are here for!

HAPPY MAXFORMING EVERYONE!!!

Hey Jason, hows it going? I see a lot of people do HIIt training. Is this some kind of track workout?

ONE DREAM ONE SIZE

May 19, 2010

One Size Doesn't Fit All
Ever try to squeeze your feet into shoes that are one size too small just because you love the style? Doesn't work, does it?
Well, maybe you can... cram your feet into those shoes for the sake of a special evening, but you can't wear them all the time.
They're just too uncomfortable!
Starving yourself with the goal of creating a physique that's contrary to your natural body type is a similar thing.
You might get there for a month or two, but eventually your body will rebel.
I'd chase the sun to the horizon, but the horizon is elusive. I kept looking at the horizon. Not the elements where being ill = then get well - then get going again. Not the elements where finding out I need a hysterectomy or have strong chances of cancer opening to be active inside me.
No, I chose to sit on the sand. Basically the momentum inside me, that part inside my heart, my desires tried on the "shoes", and quite. I didn't want to find the "right" size of shoes. To gain me, not the elements. There will always be "elements". Mine, were the shoe size and I had tried to make the shoe fit into everything. Instead of rearranging me inside to adapt, to learn, to grow, to take responsibility and then go into an extra inning, that last chance work out. Being at a "homeless" shelter, one would think that there would be so much indication to "inspire". To step up and shine to the prize called here. My life, is not measured by the homeless status of which I am currently. It is the way I know inside of me, to come through the aspects and learn to be a winner now. Not a loser. Trust myself to see the new me on the other side.
I wish you all health, and well being.
Believe is a word. Just balance it correctly in your life. I love you all. My journey, it just is beginning, after I get through the next foot print.

FINDING PEACE AMONGST THE SWEAT AND TEARS

March 9, 2010

Not because of flawed logic but because of bad information (growing up as a kid and into adult staging).
My life, it's inner harboring, asking of "Am I good enough for this?"
"YES"! More than anything before, now is the time!
My "food intake" was way off. Now, during these months behind and ahead are with "information", and Max Formation inside my being.
I am with the consequence that I don’t know when to give up. (I suppose that "stubborn" streak inside me mom said I have).
( let me sit in the sauna - again - to think about this).
Though, I hadn't come to fully take stock in the healthy fact: I know that I have become competent but have neither the drive nor the aptitude to become excellent.
I’m not, by the way, saying I do. Am just sheer determined to "go the second mile"! To "work my butt" off (or is it skinny)! In my tears of my sweat there have been, and
I wonder of mediocrity in most endeavours (alas, that’s another topic, but I am not being facetious). I only strive for excellence in a couple of areas and, through long practice and much suffering.
I have perhaps arrived in one or two areas.
Mostly, though, I had come to (of my past to accept) an arena that this low level of mediocrity in my own life.
Now, I cannot: for the simple reason that I understand how many calories are required for a state change and I know that I can only pour those calories into a few things and I had better be sure they really matter.
540 calories hurts! And if any one is right, more won’t help anyway. What is required is different.
Is it worth it to try to make the water boil? (212 degree's)

Fear of Change
Fear of change can keep you in a soul-crushing job, a bad relationship, or a physically destructive lifestyle. Ask yourself; is the devil-you-know approach good enough for you? Is your life making you happy? If you answered no to either of those questions, WHAT do you have to lose by embracing change?
The truth is, things should be changing — your body is changing, your habits are changing, your attitude is changing. This might be the point where, because of so much change, you're starting to freak out a little bit. You might be asking yourself, What will all this change mean — to my life's direction, my relationships, my identity?
LAST CHANCE WORK OUT!
See my new photos!

Hi Jason, I just posted my "End of Month 2" progress article and pics. Month 2 certainly brought some challenges: strained shoulder (no chest for 1.5 weeks), strained neck, and foot strain. All of that was with the regular challenges any working professional goes through. Well, I am headed into month 3 which, essentially is my final month because for months 4 - 6 I will be focused on adding muscle and won't post again until right before the contest ends. I've broken down the contest into two parts: 1) get lean and 2) gain muscle and stay lean. So the first 12 weeks (3 months) are most important for me and is essentially my contest time frame. Gaining muscle is a very long and slow process, so the difference between month 3 and 6, in terms of muscle mass won't be very drastic. Let me know when you post your updated pics. Don't forget the newspaper, which acts like a date stamp.

Happy Belated Birthday Jason!! Sorry you feel like your not progressing. I bet you are though! Measurements and bodyfat will tell the tale, not the scale. That will come later. Keep your chin up!!! You're adjusting your routine so that is good too. Counting calories helped me when I reached a plateau, so did split cardio.

hi everyone. tuesday was my birthday (31) and i am having a superbowl birthday party. if anyone is around phoenix, we are going to start @ about 2-3pm and go all the way through the superbowl rooting for the Colts. You can come if you want to root for the Saints too.

If you do want to stop by and meet, I would TOTALLY LOVE THAT!!! The more people who are on a quest similar to mine, the bigger support group I have, the better my success rate; and yours too!

you can email me at:
jasonallen347@yahoo.com

I will keep a constant eye on it. Please include your phone number so I can call you directly or your email so i can email you my address and give you directions.

I know this is last minute, but I just realized what a treat it would be to have my Maxformation friends come and celebrate with me.

Will run this morning with Dakota (the Red Husky) before I start getting everything going.

See you all soon and will update later tonight after the game!

GO COLTS!!!

Hi Jason! Thanks for the feedback on the arms! Here's what I have been doing, 2 body parts a day... for arms, I do biceps - DB curls, preacher curls (either cable or bars), hi cable curls, straight or EZ bar curls, iso curls. For tris - pushdowns, DB kickbacks, cable overhead extensions, seated arm extensions, and machine dips. I don't do any specific exercises for the deltoids. What do you recommend for that, and overall? Thank you so much for your comments, it will help me achieve the look I'm after, for sure!! Are you going to be posting official photos soon?

Jason, great to see you getting back into the gym. I am the Regional Director for the state of AZ for Max Muscle. Let me know how I might be able to help. We should get you into one of the stores to do a complete body composition bench mark for you and put you on a nutrition plan. Again, let me know how I can help. Tom

The last 5 days have not been that great for me concerning this challenge. I watched Julie/Julia with my gf, then searched Julia child on youtube and tried my hand at some basic french cooking techniques. That means more butter than I should and not the healthiest overall food intake. On top of that add no purposeful exercise and you get a bad start.

I don't have the money, but I joined Pure Fitness on Sunday. $19/mo w/ no fine print and no contracts. I can't wait to get in the gym. And it is close, only 2 miles away. I am not up to running that far right now, but eventually I will run their and run back with a good weight training in between.

The pic on the left is old and will repost new pics soon, maybe today. I REALLY want to see my abs. I have not seen them in 10 years and it is getting depressing.

Watched "Pumping Iron" and that made me want to work out HARD!

Please send me notes if you are reading this. I know it is really for me, but it is nice to know I have others out there that are rooting for my success as much as I am.
Until next time.

so starting over... ... ... again!
ate like crap the last month and went from 217 up to 225 and really feeling it. I just need to ACTUALLY finish what I start this time. I get going fast and then let my life get in the way and never finish. I have been "trying" to get to my goal weight for about 8 years now. I always start good and don't finish. somewhere about weeks 4 to 6 I get really sidetracked and just start putting stuff off. Please, if you can, let's keep each other on the right track and see where we can go!
See you at the finish line.

I plan on writing down everyday, as a way of accountability, what I did for workout and rating my food intake for the day on this blog. Also what, if any, supplements I take.
I will record everything so WHEN I succeed I can show others to follow my plan and they too can reach their goals!
