Week 8
March 2, 2010
Hmmm, well this past couple of weeks had some slightly different results. I had slowed down on my aerobic/cardio workouts a couple weeks ago and then readjusted it this past week adding it back in, but keeping it in the fat burning zone and not as heavy on the cardio work. I had some interesting results. I actually went up 1.40 lbs!! Okay, so it really isn't that big of a deal. Just wanted to be dramatic ;-) Anyway, My lean mass went up exactly 2.50 lbs this past week and my bodyfat dropped .56%. Not a fantastic result when it comes to bodyfat. However, it is an excellent result when it comes to muscle gained. Overall, I feel like I am on target and will boost my cardio slightly. I am working through March to continue to build muscle and then will really get after the fat blasting even more intensely in April and beyond. My goal is to get to 200 lbs of lean muscle mass. I am at 195.92 lbs. Not bad. Then the goal will be to hopefully lose very little lean mass while shredding to 8% bodyfat or less. Everything seems on schedule. Just gotta resist the temptation to say I want it now!!! I didn't get the way I was before this contest started in a month and it won't change in a month either. I am enjoying this contest immensely and the input from all of you. Keep up the great work and strive for greater things. I will post new 8 week pics soon. Oh and I have included a short piece below by business coach Jim Rohn. I have several of his philosophies that I read occasionally and this one I saw last week and thought some of you might appreciate. Enjoy!
Change Begins With Choice by Jim Rohn
Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to change it all. Any day we wish; we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge. Any day we wish; we can start a new activity. Any day we wish; we can start the process of life change. We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year.
We can also do nothing. We can pretend rather than perform. And if the idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain as we are. We can choose rest over labor, entertainment over education, delusion over truth, and doubt over confidence. The choices are ours to make. But while we curse the effect, we continue to nourish the cause. As Shakespeare uniquely observed, "The fault is not in the stars, but in ourselves." We created our circumstances by our past choices. We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices beginning today. Those who are in search of the good life do not need more answers or more time to think things over to reach better conclusions. They need the truth. They need the whole truth. And they need nothing but the truth.
We cannot allow our errors in judgment, repeated every day, to lead us down the wrong path. We must keep coming back to those basics that make the biggest difference in how our life works out. And then we must make the very choices that will bring life, happiness and joy into our daily lives.
And if I may be so bold to offer my last piece of advice for someone seeking and needing to make changes in their life - If you don't like how things are, change it! You're not a tree. You have the ability to totally transform every area in your life - and it all begins with your very own power of choice.
